I find my fellow archers in Calontir to be some of the most fun folks to spend time with (OK, this is a blog and is informal, so I can end a sentence with a preposition!).\u00a0 I cherish the hours of challenging shoots and camaraderie experienced at events that include archery.<\/p>\n<p>I don&#8217;t have a huge number of bows.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>A Hungarian horsebow made by <a href=\"http:\/\/attilasarchery.com\" target=\"_blank\">Attila Keresztes<\/a>. This is a beautiful bow made of blood wood and ash with green cording.<\/li>\n<li>Three wooden longbows (2 hickory and one red oak)<\/li>\n<li>A tri-lam longbow with horn string nocks (from <a href=\"http:\/\/www.bowskin.com\" target=\"_blank\">Bowskin Archery<\/a>)<\/li>\n<li>A Bear Archery Montana modern longbow<\/li>\n<li>A Flemish Crossbow made by <a href=\"http:\/\/crossbows.net\/\" target=\"_blank\">Master Iolo.<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Recently, I&#8217;ve been working on constructing period arrows.\u00a0 Some of them are plain, run-of-the-mill self-nocked arrows.\u00a0 The more challenging ones are self-nocked with horn or hardwood inserts (I&#8217;ve been using purpleheart wood).\u00a0 I&#8217;ll say more about arrow-making in future posts.<\/p>\n<p>Well, that&#8217;s about it for my first archery post.\u00a0 I hope to add more in the near future!<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>In addition to my interests in brewing, I find archery and thrown weapons to be\u00a0 enjoyable activities for participation in the SCA.
