{"id":848,"date":"2016-01-25T11:43:21","date_gmt":"2016-01-25T17:43:21","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.socpsy.com\/casks\/?p=848"},"modified":"2016-01-25T11:43:21","modified_gmt":"2016-01-25T17:43:21","slug":"hard-root-beer-ii","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.socpsy.com\/casks\/hard-root-beer-ii\/","title":{"rendered":"Hard Root Beer II"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Last night I shared some of the Hard Root Beer that I made a few weeks ago with some friends. \u00a0I got some excellent feedback! \u00a0I also received some &#8220;contradictory&#8221; feedback! \u00a0It is still early in the process. \u00a0I believe allowing the root beer to sit in the keg under CO2 pressure for a little longer might yield beneficial results.<\/p>\n<p>There was some agreement that while Stevia is not an artificial sweetner, it may leave a residual flavor reminiscent of some\u00a0artificial sweetners. I agree. \u00a0I&#8217;m hoping that a little more carbonation might attenuate this, given that research shows carbonation to have a dampening effect on some aspects of sweetness percep<a href=\"http:\/\/www.socpsy.com\/casks\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/01\/IMG_1355-e1453742976978.jpg\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-840\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-840 alignright\" src=\"http:\/\/www.socpsy.com\/casks\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/01\/IMG_1355-e1453742976978-225x300.jpg\" alt=\"Hard Root Beer\" width=\"225\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.socpsy.com\/casks\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/01\/IMG_1355-e1453742976978-225x300.jpg 225w, https:\/\/www.socpsy.com\/casks\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/01\/IMG_1355-e1453742976978-768x1024.jpg 768w, https:\/\/www.socpsy.com\/casks\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/01\/IMG_1355-e1453742976978.jpg 1224w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 225px) 100vw, 225px\" \/><\/a>tion.<\/p>\n<p>There was also agreement on the root beer flavoring. \u00a0It was well-received.<\/p>\n<p>There was some disagreement on the use of hops. I only used 1\/2 oz of Saaz hops in a 2.75gal batch, which yielded very low IBUs.
